New server provider?

So I have been thinking this for awhile now, and I am sure it has popped into some of your heads too. I want to try out a different server provider, other than my current one Xenon Servers. The one I want is Daemonservers UK.

They seem to have the same stuff as Xenon, and more. If this is all true, I want to move to this provider. The only problem is a MySQL reset. Meaning, all of your characters and Items will be lost. (We would refund)

But the enhancements here are much better. Less lag, better service, MySQL back ups so we don't lose anything, as well as a better admin system. Also a new loading screen so we can show the rules while people join, and FastDL.

I want all of you to consider this, because I am more than willing to hop onto a new provider. I just want your permission because a MySQL reset can be frustrating at times. I just have had thoughts since the server went down. It only seems logical to jump to someone else after all the problems I have had with Xenon.

Is anyone with me?


EDIT: 30$ a month for a 30 slot server. Im willing to pay, if you're willing to play.

Might aswell while the server is down. If it will solve the lag problem when we have 23+ players then I agree 100%.

Well I can have the server up by today, thank god. The guys at Xenon screwed something up when clearing my server so it wouldn't start. It took them until 11pm to admit it was their fault.

I am already testing out these new providers, the support system is amazing and I have a lot more control, but lag seems to be an issue. My ping stays around 140 at all times. So I am trying to get support to come help me so I can get that lowered, because that is just ridiculous.

Ill try and get the Server back up before I leave for work.

Im going to continue searching for possibilities of better providers though. I want the best that we can have.

So I was just wondering, since I live in Canada, will I get lag since its a .uk provider? Because if not then I'm all yes to this

Okay, I tried connecting earlier and it says I cant connect to something, it sends client info and all that plus a picture of the website appears but then when the server connects it says something where it would usually say *Please wait while Clockwork initializes* but now it says *Cant connect to MySQL (10061)* or something like that. Could you please fix this immediately because I really like this server and I would like to actually go on it.

I used nfo servers which allow you to choose were the server is located. Never had lag issues with 30/30 in sandbox unless props were maxxed.

That's either a problem on Xenon's part with screwy mySQL connections, or
Diablo forgetting to sync mySQL to the server

Well I would need to get on the server copy paste my descriptions from my chars onto word, and take photos of the in iventory of each, but maybe.

Cause we all loved that so much back when Gmod 13 came along and raped the server. Best get to making your screenies once the server's working.
......unless the fact that the server being based in the UK makes pings and lag issues worse rather than better.

That new provider seems very familiar, liek the revotech server (it was they're provider). So im assuming it is really good. and it won't leave us with no hl2rp for a day if something like this happens.

You should find a US based server provider, cross continent connections are pretty much always with 100+ ms latency. I live in the Netherlands and I used to have 160+ ping on the US one. Still, I'd love a UK based server, I get amazing UK pings =p.

I don't know a lot about rented gameservers (I just rent a Linux box and install the servers myself), but can't you just export the database to a .sql file? I program a dutch browsergame, and we have moved servers countless of times and we just made MySQL backups. I'm pretty darn sure any
server provider will have phpmyadmin installed for you, and it allows you to import/export databases without any effort.

If you don't have phpmyadmin and the MySQL server is only allowing remote connections, you could mail your provider to provide you with a backup. If you've got SSH access you could also use the MySQL command prompt or create a new MySQL user, bound to your IP. Which you can then use with SQLyog or something to backup it.

Just throwing this out there.
If you need a MySQL database with remote access, PM me, I could get you a database on my VPS. Hosted in Europe though, but for MySQL that shouldn't really matter.

Unfortunetly, you are all right on the ping for UK. The server leaves me with a 150-200 ping at all times. (I live in minnesota)

So, Daemon is off the list. Ill keep searching. Maybe post other providers for me to review?

I don't care about the provider honestly I didn't have a problem with the old one I just want to know when the server will be back online because I wasn't to actually play HL2RP instead of playing Black Ops 2 all day!

Diablo258 or somebody if you could PM or email me that would be great please because I want to know when I can play again because this is the best server ever and all the other ones suck and I don't want to switch servers just because of a little downtime.
