Question about vorts.

When did vorts gain the ability to create forcefields inside ones body, then expand it [insta-kill OWS and all kinds of HC cca much?] 
Actually when were they ever allowed to be so overpowered. I've shot vorts in many areas before and they never stopped throwing hazardous green lightning at me.
If they are so powerful then there really would be no reason for vorts to ever have fallen to the combine.

What it came down to is they were powerful, but the Combine forces that raped their homeworld were that much stronger. That's one of the reason all Vortigaunts they enslaved now wear those green metal things; they are most likely devices that make a dampening field, preventing the Vortigaunts from doing, well, anything other than manual labor.

If vorts were able to do that in the first place, all they'd have to do is be all like

Vorts are one of the most powerful things in the universe because of their extreme lightning power capabilities, but when they are in those slave suits they become weakened and they cannot use their powers. But when they are freed it can take time to fully restore their power. But when their home world was attacked they were outnumbered by a fuck ton and the Combine had 1 shot insta kill super guns, the Vorts obviously lost because of this. But when one is freed they are something to be feared.

Understand, they are not infinitely powerful. Their abilities have limits. Clearly their ability wasn't enough to defeat the Combine, or for those who escaped to prevent enslavement by the Nihilanth.

Maybe like the suppression field, they had some other sort of field that reduced their power and then they controlled it to something the vorts wear.

I think vorts should just get simple green electricity that can definitely fuck you up in one hit if your not wearing kelvar, or if your an OWS or HC, in that case you would get hurt severely then maybe, I just think the ability to create forcefields and then being able to expand them n shit is way overpowered.

That wouldn't make any sense because if they could do that, why would the CCA allow them to be in the streets? They would just fuck everything over. It makes MUCH more sense that they have their powers restricted and MAYBE with some hardcore RP and some Combine tech you can get freed and then train to make your powers become stronger so you could fuck shit up.
