Chapter 1 Remembering The Past
- Spoiler:
At a very young age Tristen was interested in the military. His dad served in Vietnam and was a Master Sargent when he was killed during battle. Tristen didn't know his dad very well because he died before he was born. But from stories his mom and uncle had told Tristen he seemed like a nice man. Tristen received honors in both elementary school and high school. In High school Tristen joined the junior R.O.T.C. and after his senior year he signed up to be in the United States Army In the early 2000’s. He lied about his age and joined at only 17. During his combat training he showed a high proficiency for of accuracy. They transferred him to sniper school and became a scout sniper for the 26th Army Expeditionary Unit. He was stationed in Iraq for 2 years and didn't see much action. He later was transferred out and stationed in New Jersey.
March -, 200-
While in New Jersey Tristen remembers waking up to emergency sirens and complete chaos within the base in the sky was blue tornado like storms in the distance. An emergency assembly was called. The commander stationed there told them that there where “portal storms” raging across the U.S and around the world. He wanted everyone stationed at base to be battle ready and run patrols around the tri-state area helping people fleeing highly damaged areas to New York.
March -, 200-
Tristen remember seeing a column of M1A1 Abrams rolling out to the more infected areas to try and save stranded, they never came back on the radio he herd panic from both civilians and military alike. He was part of a fire team of 5. All were on patrol in Hudson County to help with the evacuation. He remembers seeing one of these creatures flying through the sky’s it was as big as a car and as fast as a helicopter.
September -, 200-
It was many months since the events have begun and the alien’s acquired and new nickname. The men called them “antlions” and Tristen found this amusing. A few weeks ago he was moved from patrol to check point Foxtrot at the entrance of the Holland tunnel. As the months went on the creatures that started to infest what we called earth where getting bigger and smarter. The perimeter was cut tremendously from 25 miles to just 5 miles around New York City.
September -, 200-
Tristen woke up to more sirens and gunfire. On the radio they said Chicago and los Angela’s have already gone dark and Washington D.C was under heavy attack. There was a T.V in the gas station next to the checkpoint where everyone was standing mesmerized with what was on screen. Tristen ran over to watch what he saw was horrifying. Civilians getting gunned down and military forces getting destroyed like nothing. Even our best technology our jets, tanks, and helicopters seemed like pee shooters compared to these alien creatures. These three legged super tanks with strange flying machines littering the sky’s.
September -, 200-
It was not even an hour later when the aliens reached New York all that was left of the U.S army stationed around New York City. Tristen saw the blue and red glow of the alien’s gas masks and everyone opened fire. They had futuristic weapons that took chunks out of whatever they shot. The three legged creatures arrived shortly after and Tristen was running low on ammo. The where down to only 15 men and Tristen did something he regretted for the rest of his life. He ran. He ran and never looked back he had lost contact with his squad towards the start of the battle and he had presumed that they were dead.
September -, 200-
The battle was over in 45 minutes and the U.S army and other army around the world where utterly annihilated. Tristen evaded the aliens well into the night. All he had was a combat knife and a pistol. He later came across a heavily guarded checkpoint with civilians all wearing the same blue clothes. Tristen knew he needed to get a pair of those clothes before he is found or he would be killed on sight. He came across a firing team that lined up a group of disobedient civilians. The civilians were executed with no hesitation and the strange men later dispersed. Tristen then took the bloody clothes off one of the dead civilians it was perfectly intact except for some rips and tears. He ditched his weapons and armor and walked to the line. On a big screen next to the train a man named Dr. Breen was on air with every remaining media outlet in the world. He announced Earth's surrender and then the new joining with a force called the "Universal Union."
