It's Almost Time
The Crew is, by far, the most amazing community I've ever seen. You guys took me in and captivated me with incredible RP right from the start. It was a fine afternoon. City 45, 2016, when my characters first arrived by train from City 24. Immediately I was blown away. There was just so much good roleplay to be found, it was the main reason I played Garry's Mod.
I'll admit there were some dull moments. The population was low, there wasn't much to do. But most of my time in C45 I enjoyed. My characters boarded the train to City 08 too. It was an all-new map to me. I now had my first rebel character, ever. His name was Eli White, and he'd started resisting late-C45. I didn't play him much, though. I preferred my unit character.
In C08, the fun started to lower, but there were still good moments. We kept getting great pop, new players were flooding in. What happened? What killed it off? I'll tell you now.
What you guys think killed TC, you know, Mael, map changes, the boring...ness of the server, e.t.c, that's all WRONG. You were WRONG. Masey and Grem may have left because of the map switch and the death of Stinger, respectively. But that's not the point here.
The Crew committed suicide. You may be wondering: "How can a community kill itself? It's not a living thing." Well, it is a living thing, in fact. Its vital organs are you. all of you. Every single member of this community. Not just the administrators, but the regulars and the new players too.
When you look at the server now. It's been another map switch. We're on City 18, the map TC started on. The server is a bit buggy but still perfectly playable. But what do you see before joining the server? 0/30. Every day, you see the haunting 0/30 under the playercount tab.
No living thing can live without it's vital organs. If you stop caring about TC, it loses a vital organ. A lot of you say that we need to help TC and all, but then you sit around and fail to do little more than complain about it. That's not the mentality that gets us 30/30 pop.
We're not just a community, guys. We're family. Not blood-related, but we're as close as the tightest of families. We can still be #1 in the lands of HL2RP. It's not too late. If you see 0/30 pop, and you don't have ANYTHING better to do, join. I tell you from experience that 1/30 can grow to 20/30 in just a couple of hours.
To those of you who join during low pop... you guys are the ones who truly care for TC. HollerHavoc, Wowdah, General Bravo, Corestealer, and anyone else I might've missed. If you don't follow their example, this will be THE END of TC. Diablo may keep the forums up, but once the server falls, that's the final nail in the coffin.
The Crew is relying on you.

I know, Masey, I know. It honestly isn't fun sitting around in an empty server for an hour or more, hoping people will accept your invites, when they rarely do. But it's the 15th now. If The Crew is to continue after today, what we do TODAY is what matters above all.
But it can't be just today. We can't all get on one day, then stop playing the next day. That's how we're dying in the first place. Mainly, if we want people to stay, we need to impose less limits on character development, cut down on OOC, and offer what makes people stay.
That's right. The reason I stayed with TC was because of the amazing community and roleplay. If I didn't see that on my first two days, I would've ditched. But no. On my very first day, I was overwhelmed with the great RP that hit me within the first 30 minutes of playing. I hadn't played HL2RP in several months, last time I played it was back in GMod 12. It was an excellent first impression and kept me playing here for months to come.

From what I've heard, the decision's been made. TC ends tomorrow.
I'm going to probably make a larger, more elaborate goodbye post sometime tomorrow. All I will say for now is that I will be moving on, direct to my own project, which a lot of you know about by now. Obviously if a community gets formed from it, you folks will be informed.

Really? But the server has been very active through out the week, I though Diablo said he would buy another month if we can get it active. Damn.General Bravo wrote:From what I've heard, the decision's been made. TC ends tomorrow.

Re: It's Almost Time
It didn't STAY active, Chris. Our efforts just weren't enough. But it's okay. We did well.... One full year. Longer than most RP communities survive. And who knows? Maybe one day I'll buy the schema, get a new community running for us. The same death of SOTA would have to strike TC eventually, although it hasn't felt like very long. All my time at TC... so worth it. We were once the capital of RP communities, and I'm gonna miss that. Be sure to leave a letter or atleast pay your respects before the server dies.
The Crew has been awesome, wish we could've gone for... Two years? We did good. Okay, it's true that some servers have lasted longer, but some just last for 2 Months. Be sure to take some final screenshots like chris did, just for the memories of what happened here. Each time, looking back, it didn't seem like so long at all. Ready for... not sure what's going to happen next.
Goodbye, The Crew.
