Can't Connect?

I was trying to connect to the server today, but I got the classic error: Connection failed after 4 retries. I have a good internet connection and can connect to other servers fine. Anyone know what the problem might be?

It's worked fine for me today. Make sure your internet and everything is all squared away.

Seems to have fixed itself after a couple hours of playing HL2.

A bit of a persistent problem. It's going at it again today, just when the pop comes up. Tried manually connecting and connecting by invite, no luck. :/

Yeah, it's definitely something on your side. Check connections, validate, verify, defragment, do all sorts of stuff. See if that helps.

Most likely. Haven't defragged in a while, that might be it. Verified several times over. I can join other servers fine, though.

Hmmm I can join the server just fine. It might be something hidden in one of your Gmod folders.

Nah, I just reinstalled the entire directory and it still isn't working. BTW, grats on Operator!

Just watching the pop go up, unable to join in. Well, this sucks.

Was going to send in a ticket to support. Of course, the website just so happened to be down.

EDIT:
This is clearly something with TC. I can connect to other servers without trouble. Maybe a restart when the pop dies?

Used up, like, 5 hours of my life trying to fix this. Eh, I give up.

I STILL can't connect... would any of you guys mind if we did a restart?

PM Diablo for a restart, He'd do it and if it still doesn't work after that.. then if I were you I'd search under steam forums, usually they can help.

Already went to the Steam forums and Facepunch, no help there. Also, the friend invite thingy is broken for me and I can't send out friend invites, so I'll have to wait for Holla to act as a messenger.

I've had that issue before but I easily resolved it by either restarting my computer or restarting Steam. Nice picture btw.

IDK how many times I've restarted Steam or rebooted my comp, didn't help much though.

Anyone got any more ideas? I can't seem to think of anything else that might fix it. Sent in a support ticket, MAYBE that will help but it's unlikely.

Things you should try whenever you are not able to connect:

Click your Start button, type CMD in the search field and press enter.

Now type this in the command prompt and press enter:

ping 74.91.124.70

Report back the results here. This is going to give us info on if you are able to reach the server. There might be a problem on your ISP's end (I've experienced ISP routing issues before). Another thing to try is this:

Open the command prompt again and type:

tracert 74.91.124.70

Then press enter. This will also give us more information on routing issues.

Also, something that will probably not work but might be worth trying, is joining using the console. Enable your developer console, open it and type

connect 74.91.124.70:27015

Then press enter. I don't think this will make any difference, but it's worth a try.

I didn't try the CMD, that's not a bad idea. Friend invite thingy is broken for me, though. Can't add people on Steam (I first learned this when I tried to add Diabro to negotiate a server restart before I even got these connection issues.) I DID, however, try manually connecting with the developer console, without luck. I'll go get them results and post them here.

For some reason, I can't copy text from the CMD... is there a keybinding or command input for that?

Finally fixed the problem by adding the following line into the GMod launch options: +clientport 27015. I'M NOT IN CRAZY PIRATE LAND ANYMORE!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! FREEEEEEE!!!!! /me jumps off the Nexus roof.
